Tomorrow the 21th December 2008, signs the closure of what one can call a very positive year to the Maltese Horse Racing scene. And what could be more spectacular than closing a season with 7 Finals, 6 for Trotters and 1 for Thoroughbreds. The 6 trotting finals will see French horses competing for one of the most prestigious championships in horse racing calendar - the S.E.C.F. Championship whilst the Thoroughbreds will be running the Coronation Cup Final this year around sponsored for the first time by FAIRPLAY.
We really wish that tomorrow will be the cherry on the cake of a year which by far signs the Maltese Sports scene with Hoof Beats of Excellence and Driving Gloves of the finest quality. It has been a year of very nice and competitive horse racing along with international success done by Maltese drivers all around Europe.
Well, the line-up looks great and that's sure, the weather seems promising, and we are only left needing of an enthusiastic and large crowd at the racing grounds.
So....... See You There. I know, just like us, you cannot miss it.

Noel Baldacchino was today representing Malta in the last stage of the Mediterranean Champion Drivers event. This last stage of this championship was this time held in Italy - Naples in the famous track of Agnano. Noel Baldacchino again proved to be simply a driver with a natural talent and went on to win the second race driving horse number 6 GRILLO COF with an attack during the last 600meters and after doing the last curve 3 wide, he went on to win whip down leaving his horse to his natural gate. In the first race Noel Baldacchino had less luck with the mare EOLIEPER, where he finished 5th, getting the last valid placing in the money..
Well done again to Noel Baldacchino for this new success for the Maltese Flag in yet another international horse racing event after the victory by Charles Camilleri in the Prix de Malte in Laval France.
Today, the start lists for the S.E.C.F Championships and The FAIRPLAY Coronation Cup finals were drawn at the Malta Racing Club offices. The start lists for these finals can be found in our START LISTS section under meeting 63. Meeting 63 will be the last meeting for an eventful year 2008.
This weekend between Saturday and Sunday all Owners and Drivers registered at the Malta Racing Club have the election for their representatives. As per statute of the Horse Owners and Drivers Association, the 3 representatives with the highest votes will join the Government's appointed 5 Malta Racing Club members in order to form an 8 member council. The next 4 will form along with the first 3 the Horse Owners and Drivers Association. In this way the owners and drivers can ensure that their voice has the necessary weight in the decisions being taken at the Malta Racing Club.
The participation of all owners and drivers is encouraged in order to ensure a just representation of their needs around the decision making table at the Malta Racing Club.

Well, you all know how busy we were lately with almost 2 horse racing meetings a week and all the start list draws every fortnight. Moreover we are very happy that the feature about the Prix de Malte helped you to enjoy the success done by the Maltese contingent in France. This made us delay a bit the Photographic Features about Krafft Championship Finals. As per tradition however we are committed not to let these finals pass without the due feature.
For this reason whilst excusing ourselves for the delay, we invite you to watch the two photographic features for the Krafft Championship Finals for American, Canadian, Danish, Finnish, Belgian, German and Italian horses in Malta. You can find this feature on your left or in the Gallery, where all our features for this year are.
The week to come is announcing itself as one of the busiest week, jam packed with 4 racing meetings from Sunday to Sunday.
On such occasions when startlists are drawn on Tuesday, we ask you to bear with us as we may need more time to input the startlists than usual.
