It has been a while since we had time to dedicate some time to write something for our followers and therefore we would like to summarise a bit the latest events.

We are now 2years old, and hell if it is the terrible twos! We have been busy enough just to leave this little anniversary to pass unnoticed on the 5th February. Thank God someone helped us remember this event and we are some day late in bringing it to your attention. We are too absorbed in our work to have a drink over the work we did in these last 2 years. But well, after all when one does such work wholeheartedly, one deems celebrations of little or no interest. There is one thing, however, that we are really happy of and this is our website's hit count which reached an impressive 400,000 Hits. That is a huge number of followers and a big driving force for the coming future.

In the past two years, our website developed into a massive database with over 1300 different horses and over 1050 photos of different horses present in our database. We count more than 1500 race results spread on 4 years with over 1100 finishing photos. We also count 33 Photographic features which give a review on 71 amongst Championship Finals and Events organised by the Malta Racing Club.

Malta Trot Racing website has been gathering support since the first days it came to every horse racing enthusiast's attention and this exponential curve of interest shows that our product is deemed of a very high quality. It is also for this reason that Malta Trot Racing website has become a reference even to many foreign horse related organisations, including websites of Horse Racing Enthusiasts as well as Foreign Official Racing Clubs. It was of great pleasure to note that our website now features also in the official Cheval-Francais website, which is the portal of the S.E.C.F. For this we would like to thank both Mr. Fabrega and Mr. Maupas officials of the S.E.C.F for their appreciation of our work and their support.

The First Leg of the Mediterranean Jockeys Championship will take place this Sunday 14th February. The Maltese participant to this 1st Leg will be jockey Michael Sultana and will be held in the Cote d'Azur race tack in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. The Maltese jockey will be riding Churriana an Ireland born 5year old mare. The race will be held over 1600meters and will be run in the all weather track for the total prize money of 15,000 Eur.

This race will be a nice demonstration for jockeys coming from all around the Mediterranean countries to measure themselves with French renound drivers such as Dominique Boeuf, Thierry Thulliez and Ioriz Mandizabal.

The Race will be aired live on Equidia Channel at 15:55 CET.

As you may have noticed we weren't able to update the results of the last 2 meetings. By today they should be ready including also the Start Lists of the upcoming meetings still to be announced by the Malta Racing Club. Races images of the last 3 meetings (4,5 and 6) will not be available.

The guestbook has now been re-opened again. The main reason for closing it was that we didn't have much time to administer it and to be on the safe side we closed it for only 1 week. Also the forum tips points weren't updated for the same reason. We will make sure that the points will be updated by the end of this week.

Starting from the previous news with regards to Charles Degiorgio, we would like to congratulate ourselves with Charles for winning the Best Driver Award at his Swedish home track Mantorp. Rolls Royce, a horse owned by Swedish owners and trained by Charles Degiorgio won the Best Promising Horse award. The Sport Malta Award 2009 held on the same night in Malta went to Aaron Ciantar the PowerBoat World Champion 2009. Aaron Ciantar is someone that like Charles Degiorgio succeeded to do a tremendous success in his sport of choice ending the year as a World Champion and therefore this prize is well merited and by no means minimises the successes done by our fellow sportsman Charles Degiorgio.

The Photographic Feature of the Mc Donalds Coronation Cup has been uploaded during this week, which was a bit late but we are very very busy at the moment. Hope it pleases all Flat racing enthusiasts and horse racing lovers.

We would also like to bring to your attention the fact that we added more horses in our For Sale list. Robert Ericson also informed us that Lovely Rodney should be joining us in Malta soon. He also expressed his happiness with the business he is doing with Maltese owner, that through our website are showing lots of interest in the horses put up for sale.

The Sportswriters Association and the Maltese Council for Sport yesterday announced the finalists who will be contesting the Sport Malta Awards - National Contests for 2009.

The event will be aired LIVE on TVM on Saturday 16th January and it will be the occasion to see if Horse Racing sportsman Charles Degiorgio will succeed to win this prestigious award. The voting of members of the Sportswriters Association as well as the association officials registered with KMS will make up 80% of the final vote. The other 20% will come from the public's voting. Everyone can send an sms to cast his vote for the election of the Sportsman of the Year Award.

All the Contestants are:
Alex Borg (snooker), William Chetcuti (shooting), Aaron Ciantar (powerboats), Nikolai Portelli (athletics) and obviously Charles Degiorgio (horse-racing).

We would like to unite all Horse Racing enthusiasts and ask everyone to vote for one of Malta's best sporting expert - Charles Degiorgio. Charles did not only get a name for himself but also for his country with the success he is doing in Sweden as a Trainer and Driver. One must say that Charles Degiorgio concludes the Year 2009 as the best Trainer at Mantorp Race Track as well as 3rd best Driver in the same track. It is also important to say that this feat done by Charles Degiorgio has not only been appreciated in Malta but also in Sweden where he is being nominated as Driver of Year and Trainer of the Year in the Trav Gala to be held on the 16th January in Mantorp. He will be contesting for these awards against renowned driver and trainer Claes Svensson amongst others.

IL-KUNSILL TAL-MALTA RACING CLUB

We are slowly putting up the first 3 Meetings for the year 2010. Unfortunately our Internet connection is very slow today and this is making the task more difficult.

As you can see, there has been a change to the 2nd Meeting which was planned for Saturday the 16th. It will now take place on Friday 15th January and the meeting will start at 18:00.

Today we Uploaded the SECF Championship Finals Photographic Features. With some patient work during the last week of the year, we succeeded to complete all 5 features of the finals. That sums up to over 100 photos which have been processed in order to be presented to you for a photographic reminder of the 5 excellent finals we had. As one can see from the photos, the weather was far from clement with us but the crowd still showed up and I am positive that everyone had a very good time watching some beautiful races.

We would also like to draw to your attention that as happens every year the club worked out the points reduction by 10% of all horses who did not win or make it to place on 4 occasions during the past season. The new horses which ran six races or less since their début do not get this reduction. For this reason the points for each horse have now been updated on our website too.
